This user mailbox is termed as Soft-deleted. If the user mailbox has been soft-deleted and the account related to the mailbox has been hard deleted then the mailbox gets deleted forever.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Office_365_Delete_Mailbox_using_Admin_Center\"><\/span><strong>Office 365 Delete Mailbox using Admin Center<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If we delete the Office 365 user account then mailbox linked to this account also gets deleted from Exchange Online. If the account not recovered in 30 days it is deleted forever. So to stop paying for license remove it<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to Office 365 Admin Center<\/li>\n<li>Click on Billings&gt;&gt; Subscriptions<\/li>\n<li>Select the subscription assigned to user and click \u2018Remove\u2019 license<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this way you can delete Office 365 Account using Admin center<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Remove_User_Mailbox_without_deleting_the_User\"><\/span><strong>Remove User Mailbox without deleting the User<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This is possible when deleting Exchange Online mailbox with PowerShell<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Start windows PowerShell and connect with Office 365 by following command<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>$UserCredential = Get-Credential<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A pop-up box will open, enter the login details and OK<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1961\" src=\"https:\/\/www.filerepairtools.com\/tips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/connect-powershell-to-office-365.png\" alt=\"connect powershell to office 365\" width=\"540\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To establish connection use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https:\/\/outlook.office365.com\/powershell-liveid\/ -Credential $UserCredential -Authentication Basic \u2013AllowRedirection<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Now execute the command<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Import-PSSession $Session \u2013DisableNameChecking<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Delete the user-mailbox by following command<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Remove-Mailbox -Identity\u00a0<\/strong>&lt;mailbox identity&gt;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This will move the mailbox to deleted folders, check the deleted folder by<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Get-MsolUser \u2013 ReturnDeletedUsers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Now permanently delete Exchange Online User mailbox<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Remove-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName &lt;mailbox identity&gt; -RemoveFromRecycleBin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Office 365 mailbox will be completely deleted.
