This safe mode loads Outlook without add-ins installed and any customizations. If Outlook works perfect in safe mode it means there is some problem with customization files or add-ins. The next step is to uninstall add-ins one by one to check which one is causing problems, Once you found one you can add other add-ins removing the one which is causing trouble.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Following steps will describe How to Run Outlook in safe mode.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hold Ctrl key as you click the Outlook shortcut.<\/li>\n<li>If you use Vista or Windows 7, type\u00a0<strong>outlook.exe \/safe<\/strong>\u00a0in the Start Search field on the Start menu then press Enter.<\/li>\n<li>In Windows 8, press Windows key to drop back to the Start screen, then type\u00a0<strong>outlook.exe \/safe<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-171 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.filerepairtools.com\/tips\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/outlook-safe-mode.png\" alt=\"outlook in safe mode\" width=\"298\" height=\"242\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If Run\u2026. is shown on your start menu (any version of Windows) click it and type<strong>outlook.exe \/safe<\/strong>\u00a0in the Open field and click OK.<\/li>\n<li>Hold the Windows key and press R, then type\u00a0<strong>outlook.exe \/safe<\/strong>\u00a0in the Open field and click OK.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Normally it works when you type\u00a0outlook or outlook.exe , but sometimes Widows return error that it can\u2019t find the file. In such cases you need to type the full path of Outlook. The default location of Outlook is\u00a0<strong>C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice<em>Version<\/em><\/strong>,<\/p>\n<p>The safe command cn be used with following options:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\/safe \u00a0<\/strong>Starts Outlook without extensions, Reading Pane, or toolbar customization. Works with all versions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\/safe:1<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Starts Outlook with the Reading Pane off. Outlook 2003\/2007 only.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\/safe:2 \u00a0<\/strong>Starts Outlook without checking mail at startup. Outlook 2003\/2007 only.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\/safe:3 \u00a0<\/strong>Starts Outlook with extensions turned off, but listed in the Add-In Manager.
