People who use Microsoft Outlook on an Exchange Server having a size limit set for an email to be sent out, often face problems of \u201cMessage Stuck in Outbox\u201d when they try to send an email that exceeds the set limit.<\/p>\n

If a user tries to delete the stuck message, then Outlook displays a message \u201cOutlook has begun transmitting the message,\u201d which means it cannot be deleted. What to be done in this case? Because it may halt Outlook and you may face problems when sending and receiving emails. Look for the possible solutions below.<\/p>\n

How to Delete a Message Stuck in Outbox<\/strong><\/p>\n

The main cause of stuck mail is large attachment, so you have to delete the message by going offline.<\/p>\n

The following method works on Outlook 365<\/span>, Outlook 2019,<\/span>\u00a0Outlook 2016 and<\/span>\u00a0Outlook 2013<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

  1. First Click on SEND\/RECEIVE<\/b>\u00a0>\u00a0Work Offline<\/b>.\"mail<\/li>\n
  2. Now in the navigation pane, click Outbox<\/b>.<\/li>\n
  3. From here, you have two options:\n

    • \n

      Delete the message. Just select it and press Delete.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • Drag the message to your drafts folder, double-click to open the message, delete the attachment (click it and press Delete).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • If an error tells you Outlook is trying to transmit the message, close Outlook. It may take a few moments to exit. If Outlook doesn\u2019t close, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and click\u00a0Start Task Manager<\/b>. In\u00a0Task Manager<\/b>, click the\u00a0Processes<\/b>\u00a0tab, scroll down to\u00a0outlook.exe<\/b>, and click\u00a0End Process<\/b>.<\/li>\n
    • After Outlook closes, start it again and repeat steps 2-3.<\/li>\n

      After you remove the attachment, click\u00a0SEND\/RECEIVE<\/b>\u00a0>\u00a0Work Offline<\/b>\u00a0to deselect the button and resume working online. Messages also get stuck in the Outbox when you click\u00a0Send<\/b>, but you are not connected. Click\u00a0SEND\/RECEIVE<\/b>\u00a0and look at the\u00a0Work Offline<\/b>\u00a0button.
